Arz - Honey I’m Home (Mixtape)

5th September 2024 - Following nine months of consistent singles, performances, and movie-like visuals, the UK’s hit-maker Arz has shared his highly anticipated mixtape, ‘Honey I’m Home’. Continuing to push his signature lo-fi sound, the storyteller stripped it back to his roots for a project exuding love, growth, and self-reflection. Further solidifying his trailblazer status, Arz will be heading on a headline tour around the UK and Australia to celebrate the release.

Spread over twelve tracks that are each laced with a sense of relatability, Arz details themes of love and happiness throughout the project. Envisioning the ideal happy home, this comforting mixtape captures the feeling of a hug from a loved one. Paired with a trailer expressing the opposite emotions, Arz wanted to create a raw contrast between both realities of love.  Housing production from El Londo, MADEINPARIS, BKAY, Oakland, QTheory, 23sunz, Samo and Marcel Beats, with features from Laicositna, 23AZ, and singer-songwriter Dido Wilson, ‘Honey I’m Home’ is Arz’s most advanced project to date. Accommodating pre-released singles “Long Time No See”, “Hostage”, and “Lickback” with Laicositna, the soft welcoming of “Age Like Wine” sets the tone for what yet to arrive with his use of vulnerability and emotional awareness. Picking up the pace in tracks like “Sweet Tooth” and “Big On Health”, “Mrs I’ll Do Anything” and “ILUV” emphasise Arz’s acclaimed lyrical approach of expressing the positive sides of modern-day dating. Shedding light on another side of love that’s barely spoken about in rap, Arz is the voice for a new generation who appreciate the feeling to its fullest. Closing out the mixtape with “Ashamed Of Nun”, it’s clear his growth musically and personally have expanded beyond the borders of his 2023 album ‘Can’t Commit’.

Speaking on the making of the mixtape Arz commented, “This whole thing started back in August/September when I thought of the name, ‘Honey I’m Home’. I had that title in my head for a while but never really knew what I would wanna use it for. After a few months I realised the songs I was making could sit really well with the title, they’re homely, comforting and vulnerable songs.”

Arz went on to explain, “I’m 20 and life keeps throwing me situations. During this time I kept on learning, I kept on growing. Things are changing and I’m sure you can hear throughout the tape. Absolutely nothing in this life is always sweet and roses which is why I made the decision to come up with a trailer that shows the other side of intense love and acts of a broken home instead of a happy one. The female vandalising and acting out of character is a common expression of how most of these relationships end up getting like. I wanna invite people into my world of love next to chaos with this tape. I wanna inspire people to be more raw and honest with themselves and others no matter the cost.”

Finding a spot of virality back in 2021 with his platinum single “Alone With You” that reached number 25 in the UK Singles Chart, the 20-year-old artist has amassed  a substantial fanbase that reaches global recognition. Well known for his lyrical intricacy surrounding love and relationships, Arz’s use of lo-fi beats and sample-woven production has set him apart from the rest, pushing him to the forefront of Black British music. Curiosity got the better of him from a young age, falling in love with the craft when freestyling with his friends for fun Arz was encouraged to take his talent a step further and eventually dropped out of college to pursue his dream of becoming a house-hold name.

Gaining further support from Complex UK, COLORS, Wonderland, GRM Daily, Mixtape Madness, Music Week, Clash Magazine, Acclaim, and the huge, continued supports of BBC Radio 1Xtra (DJ Target), Kiss Fresh (Ellie Prohan), Capital XTRA (DJ Semtex), who relentlessly endeavour to champion his unrivalled lyricism, Arz continues to cement himself as one of London’s hottest artists. Featured in Spotify’s ‘Free Form’, ‘Rap UK’, ‘It’s Lit!’, ‘New Music Friday’, ‘A1’ ‘+44 Rap’, and ‘Hip-Hop Mixtape’ playlists, Arz has also attained further support from Apple in their ‘UK Rap’, ‘Mood’, ‘New Fire’, and ‘New Music Daily’ lists as well as Audiomack’s ‘Calm’ playlist.. To his 666,000 monthly Spotify listeners, it’s evident that Arz’s growth and determination speaks for itself as he continues to surpass each release. With a headline tour around the UK and Australia at the end of the year, alongside a recent sold-out event in collaboration with designer brand BAPE,  the trailblazer is becoming a force to be reckoned with.
