As summer begins to come to a close, UK heavy-hitters Songer and D Double E team up with one of Australia’s most talked about  producer/artists right now Nerve for their summer send-off soundtrack “Tonkz”.

Boasting an energised production courtesy of Nerve that’s welcomed by D Double E’s renowned adlibs, listeners are taken on a masterclass in lyricism. With each artist bringing their individual flair to the track, “Tonkz” is brimming with playful bars, skilful punchlines and infectious flows that’ll instantly leave you wanting more. Capturing the sounds of summer with an underlying sense of nostalgia, Songer, Nerve and D Double E head to the gym in the comedic Tom Bailey-directed visuals. Opening the music video with a dictionary reference to the track's title, “To strike with a heavy flow”, it’s safe to say they’ve done exactly that in this wheel-up worthy spin.

Speaking on the release D Double E stated, "Been doing this for a while now and I love working with the next generation, it keeps me on my toes lol. I’ve worked with Songer a few times and he is definitely one of my favourites, he’s been going from strength to strength and I love to see it, Nerve is another one who’s a super talent from down under from production to bars he reminds me of how it was when I first started and I think that essence will last forever it’s only right that we got the trio together to make some waves from the UK TO AUSTRALIA”.

When asked about how the track transpired Nerve explained, "As a kid growing up in Australia I always connected with UK hip hop the strongest outside of my own country. And when I discovered UK grime / rap I always thought D was mad original and looked up to him heaps as an artist. First grime show I ever bought tickets for was D Double E in Brisbane back in 2016/17.Then being able to link Songer and his team in Australia in 2023 was a sick experience and everything came together so naturally. So when I came to the UK in 2024 things just fell into place and we all made an absolute banger together in like 3 hours".

Songer added, “Tonkz just feels like nostalgia. It feels like that era of growing up where the only thing that mattered was fun and finding new music. It bridges Australian and UK music seamlessly.”
