Award-winning US-based Kenyan music producer, artist, and composer Waithaka is making a significant milestone in his illustrious musical career with the release of his latest R&B and soul album, Soul’d Duets.

This new project underscores his remarkable 20-year journey in the music industry, a journey that has seen him evolve from a novice pianist in the early 2000s to a highly accomplished and decorated music producer with an enduring impact on Kenya’s music legacy and the African diaspora.

Waithaka’s career is a testament to his dedication to creating timeless music that resonates across diverse audiences. His eclectic catalogue, released under his label Waithaka Ent, spans multiple genres and highlights his versatility as a producer and composer. Notable works include his monumental debut album, Odes by Queens (2020), the collaborative project, BLK2541 (2020), and his joint album, Moshi (2024), with Zimbabwean artist MJ Wemoto. Each of these projects has solidified his reputation as a forward-thinking and influential figure in the music scene.

Adding to his impressive discography, Waithaka’s latest release, Soul’d Duets, is a masterclass in R&B/Soul production. The album features a captivating blend of smooth rhythms and melodies, showcasing Waithaka’s ability to create sonically rich and cohesive masterpieces. The artists featured on the album are thoughtfully paired, merging their unique styles into a harmonious soundscape that keeps listeners engaged from start to finish. The album’s lead single, "I Surrender," features the enchanting vocals of Zaituni Wambui and the smooth saxophone notes of award-winning saxophonist Kimbassax, perfectly encapsulating the soulful essence of the album.

Waithaka Ent’s imprint extends beyond his own projects, with Waithaka playing a pivotal role as an executive producer for several notable Kenyan artists. He has executive-produced three of Kwame Rĩgĩi’s EPs: Rugendo, Malkia, and Cama Wendo, as well as Ayrosh’s debut, Murasta, EP. His production prowess is further showcased in his work on five of the nine tracks on Wangechi’s, Don't Consume If Seal is Broken, EP. Waithaka’s collaborations also include work with esteemed artists such as Mutoriah, Chemutai Sage, Serro, and international acts like Grammy-nominated engineer Giggz, Congolese-French musician Kaysha, and BET’s 106 & Park All-Star '09 winner Chris Deshield.

Reflecting on his journey, Waithaka’s music is deeply rooted in the soul and R&B sounds he grew up with in the 80s. His sound is a reflection of his personality, and he prefers to let the music speak for him.
