Julie Kuhl - Purple Eyelids (Single)

A key figure in Frankfurt’s burgeoning Jazz scene, 19 year old vocalist Julie Kuhl has been making waves on a global level following the release of her two long-player releases ‘Flowers & Candles’ and ‘Born With Nostalgic Bones’.

Now signing to Jakarta Records imprint ASMARA RECORDS, Julie announces her forthcoming EP ‘Clouds Of Grief’ with new single ‘Purple Eyelids’. With this latest offering, Julie’s melancholy, yet soulful tones meld beautifully with ethereal production, a trip-hop inspired rhythm section gently propelling the track into the ether. On the origins of the track, Julie says: “Purple Eyelids is a song I wrote about a deep connection I felt with someone who was very close to me, and who was going through a rough time." Giving a taste of what to expect from the larger body of work on the horizon, it showcases what is certainly some of Julie’s most delicate and well rounded work to date. It’s no wonder she’s been gaining support from the likes of KCRW, Atwood Magazine and many more, a list which will no doubt be drastically increasing over the coming months.
