MAYOR - Guilty Pleasure (Single)

Transatlantic duo MAYOR taste the forbidden fruit on new single ‘Guilty Pleasure’.

Drawing upon their eclectic musical influences (Prince, Daft Punk, Flying Lotus, Tame Impala, Bee Gees, Michael Jackson and many more) to create a unique sound signature aligned between soul and electronic music and following on from their debut single Red Flower(which gained support from Huey Morgan BBC 6 Music, Jazz FM & more), they now prepare to unleash their new offering ‘Guilty Pleasure’, the second single lifted from their forthcoming EP ‘Running From Sunshine’ via PLYGRND (Pale Jay, Relyae, Kiefer, Erick The Architect, Mick Jenkins and many more).

Expanding on the meaning behind the soulful single, MAYOR explains: “Guilty pleasure is about fantasising about another person, while still with your partner. Having internal conflict between the good wolf and bad wolf in your head, and blurring the lines between wrong and right.” The duo is composed of Dutch producer / drummer Dayle Hamers and L.A based vocalist / guitarist Ray Goren (who grew up around the South Central blues scene, and shared a stage with BB King at only 13 years old). He also scored his first top 20 billboard single last year with Bebe Rexha. Together they create a powerful alchemy, possessing potent talent for crafting golden-tinged modern soul jams. Transmitting sensual frequencies across the globe, ‘Guilty Pleasure’ features a golden oldies inspired guitar-riff, gliding alongside crisp, punchy drums and an understated bassline, providing a beautiful backdrop for Ray’s falsetto to settle atop like early morning dew. The lyrics paint a picture of the things in life that are often forbidden, but always taste the sweetest.
