LA collective Catpack, consisting of Amber Navran (of Moonchild), Jacob Mann and Phil Beaudreau follow the release of their debut self-titled album with a slick remix by producer, musician, and Stones Throw signee DJ Harrison. Catpack also set off on their 13-date US-UK-EU tour starting at the end of September – with standout performances at Lodge Room (LA)Racket (NYC), and The Jazz Cafe (London).

“Yep” acts as an interlude/response to the band’s single and predecessor on the album “The Top”, with Amber’s pitched-down voice contrasting against Phil’s pitched-up vocals and horn solos, pocket pianos and glitchy effects are sprinkled on top to create a sublime beat tape. DJ Harrison transforms this formula by adding a swinging lo-fi drum pattern with dreamy, layered textures and vocal soundscapes to his signature remix.

Since the release of their quirky, light-hearted project ‘Catpack’ – which amassed support from the likes of Rolling Stone JapanSoul BounceEARMILK and radio plays across KEXPKCRW and Jazz FM – Catpack have made their debut performance at the iconic Amoeba Hollywood. Their debut record is an authentic convergence of each band member’s artistry, drawing on their influences to harness a jazz-influenced R&B sound with neo-soul, funky and electronic motifs. The whimsical namesake is taken from a synth patch resembling cats meowing that they discovered in the studio and an ingenious merch idea that followed (catpacks).
