EV - Sorry Mum (Single)

EV returns with the feel good new single ‘Sorry Mum’. Conjuring up some 90’s magic, the nostalgic track transports listeners to the dancefloor as the fast-rising Ipswich artist pays tribute to a youth spent wearing beat up Reebok Workouts to all night raves. ‘Sorry Mum’ is an apology to worried parents who misunderstood the unifying cathartic experience of dancing in the back of the club until the early hours.

The track comes accompanied by first person visuals, directed & produced by Jakub Libicki which follows a day in the life of a raver whose day culminates in joining EV on stage for his set at Boomtown Festival - showcasing footage of his performance.

Released via Polydor’s dance and electronic imprint Chaos, ‘Sorry Mum’ follows recent single ‘Cuppa Tea’, an explosive slice of Punk and Bass that confronts the problematic nature of the countries class divide. ‘Cuppa Tea’ was accompanied by a huge DnB remix courtesy of Bristol producer Gray which has been blowing up via club and festival sets.

Both tracks will land on EV’s forthcoming EP which will be released later this year, continuing the momentum of his independently released DJ’s, Dealers and Raves EP, which chronicles a night out in London and considers the “living for the weekend” mentality of British working class culture.

With his unabashedly relatable lyrics, EV has already become a one to watch for tastemakers with early support from DJ Interplanetary Criminal, Abbie McCarthy, BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and BBC introducing. Last year his ‘Friday Nights’ single garnered Radio 1’s Track of the Week, and his feature on Ben Gerrans’English Lad’ went viral, finding a global community on TikTok, hitting Spotify’s Viral 50 across Europe and getting support from Apple Music Electronic editorial.

EV is picking up the gauntlet to continue a lineage of working class poets, utilising club culture and music to amplify his voice in order to spread a message of hope to those across the country that feel disenfranchised.
