Over the course of 18 months I embarked on a journey to create a Timeless piece of Art to challenge myself. Gathering vibes I got to work on crafting the beats for this project! producing on logic X is kool but really got some flow via MPC so half and half the beats on this album are from two separate daw’s - getting to a point where you can create what you love is part of the journey I have features from some dope artists I know on here We got Acehitz KOBI PICASSO NIXX I’ve had a lot of experiences through the course of this project and can’t wait to share so you can feel this like I did the main goal it to have a s much fun as possible creating deep the launch and limited clothing drop via the dot com or a dm ! Please note these are made to order with option of a 3D printed memory stick with SIDE A loaded! A physical piece of history and hardware Love always.
iGraft Life sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
Where it all began was listening to what my brother was bumping at the time, I remember listening to Wu Tang - Protect Ya Neck at like 8 or 9 and wanting to just write raps and create the artist you see now.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
My influences stem from a few genres from the sound off jazz (Charlie Parker) A OG producer (Sid Roams) to Reggae artists like Buju Banton, there’s too many. It would be bless to work with Dirt n Rain (Huddersfield), Diallect (Leeds), and a couple others around my local way El Tribe (Warrington), for my up north G’s, I could go on for a minute here!
3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
Haha, I was waiting for this question! Currently I’m sat on a lot of music and 2 in the tuck projects, let me explain the order quick, 2 will be out next, we have Warrior Origins LP (Side B) currently 4 features from my brothers I work with collectively, this body of work consists of 8 songs all produced by me, deep the storyline that goes with it in the promo, I used my imagination and wild creativity on this one! WARRIOR ORIGINS TRAILER story of a memory stick which corresponds with the clothing drop with a 3D PRINTED MEMORY STICK with the album pre loaded And for the big drop 25/11 we have Warrior In A Garden Side A, this album consists of 11 hand picked songs across a couple genres, with some sick features from artists I’ve build rapport with from UK to US there’s a nice balance without having to oversaturate the project. There’s an element of live guitar in some of my production, I started to take the creative process more serious and got to work with the MPC studio 2!
4. How would you describe your sound?
In a few words, energetic sometimes comical-but always jovial, enigmatic because of how unorthodox the process I use to create! I use sounds that match in my head or how I’d perceive, everyone has their own way of expressing, I feel the headspace I’m in atm is wild I’m exceeding my own expectations on that note let’s keep creating I’m happy.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
My proudest moment as a painter, buying a new MacBook so I can fill it with all these new songs and ideas, let me tell you working all this wave on a old outdated Mac, had me wanting to frisbee the whole thing in a field, I’m good now, I have FULL creative control over what I do. Dependence is not something that sits well with me but I suppose we all need help in some way shape or form.
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
I want this one to be crystal clear, I’ll use metaphors, only commit to music if you are prepared to handle the mud that comes with the rain ... I mean it’s a lonely but wholesome game once you have knowledge of self, my advice is stay frosty and get any ideas you have out to the world they need you. Self doubt is what can kill our visions, being blessed with musicianship and a way to express your life shouldn’t be treated passively, if you have a gift use it for the greater good, people will gravitate naturally! But above all ENJOY it and trust the process.
7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?
You need to check these in order @Acehitz_ these my brothers, @kobiarmstrong @krishanchopz @picassowitapen @nixx_nescio27 all in their bag with music.
8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?
Albums on heavy rotation right now are Westside Gunn - Hall and Nash, Estee Nack - Nacksaw Jim Duggan, Dub Playlist (mixture of roots dub) WARRIOR ORGINS SIDE B, gets me through my day.
9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?
I like to do nothing on the down time days ... but hear me, subconsciously I’m always working in my big head ... I come up with these blueprints while sat meditating or in silence, or I’ll be out with the camera capturing family life! I’m a dad of 3 and very family oriented.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
I need sage and Palo Santo in my dojo it just adds the vibe I need to focus I need hot tea for the vocals it’s a must before I lay some fire down and a mood light for that ambiance soft pastel colours like a teal I feel helps me concentrate but at a relaxed state of mind!
I also want to say thank you for taking the time to let me get my thoughts out! I hope this will inspire someone! Peace and love, stay ready for what’s in about to drop, tap in!
