Pierre Da Silva - Boys Want Love Too (Single)

London based singer, songwriter and artist Pierre Da Silva shares his poignant new single ‘Boys Want Love Too’, out everywhere on 6th February.

Recorded with producer Tommasso Medica - band member and writer in breakthrough indie band ‘bby’ as well as ‘Husky Loops’ - in his home studio, lyrically the track explores themes of male vulnerability, the need for emotional connection, and the way society still perceives the way a man ‘should’ be.

Speaking of the track, Pierre says, “Tommasso really created a safe space for me to write and record and be vulnerable at a time where I really needed it. I’m very much a loverboy at heart. I’m emotional, sensitive, expressive and everything else that comes with being an artist. But despite that, I noticed that I can be quick to put walls up and shield my emotional wants and needs. Which is quite a male thing to do. We often project this nonchalance when it comes to our emotional needs and pretend that we don’t need love as much as the opposite sex. Society teaches us to present ourselves in a certain way that is always strong, never vulnerable and so we never open up. It never serves us and I feel it’s a lesson often learnt too late.

I want my listeners to know that despite us often doing a great job of self-sabotage we do want emotional connection just as much as the opposite sex. We just have a little way to go in learning to make that known and putting our egos down and learning to be emotionally available, expressive and vulnerable.”

With a voice described as “made for soul”, Pierre’s music is an effortless blend of R&B and soul, with pop sensibilities. A naturally gifted songwriter and storyteller, he thrives off the emotions and concepts he’s able to portray through her lyrics.

Citing influences like Donny Hathaway, Lauryn Hill and Lianne La Havas, Pierre has managed to carve out a name for himself in other spheres, releasing music in 2017, via the ‘formidable’ drum and bass duo the Brookes Brothers’ highly anticipated second album ‘Orange Lane’. He wrote and featured on ‘Times of Trouble’ and closing track ‘We Got Love’, both receiving plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 1Xtra, introducing the wider world to Pierre’s incredible voice.

Hot off a performance at Soho House Paris on the 7th of December 2024, Pierre has appeared on Jools Holland for ‘Pip Millett’ and recorded at Abbey Road Studios for 'Jordan Mackampa’. BBC London continues to support this exciting talent with the BBC Introducing team, with presenter Jess Iszatt saying "Just simply loving the sound, very catchy as well ...kicking off the show nice and strong with Pierre Da Silva".

‘Boys Want Love Too’ is the first song from a full project from the multi-faceted artist, so watch this space.
