Hip hop’s next breakout star, AK CEEZ, is turning up the heat with the release of their latest single, “Wrote a Letter”, which is out now on all major streaming platforms. Packed with powerful lyricism, infectious energy, and a beat that hits hard, this track is set to make waves in the rap game.

Produced by Scotzilla, “Wrote a Letter” fuses raw storytelling with a an emotionally charged sound, delivering an anthem for anyone willing to reflect on past relationships, which ironically lands on Valentine’s Day. Lyrically, AK CEEZ dives into this song in the form of penning a letter, with the chorus delivering the universal message of how we use these past experiences to make us stronger, offering a glimpse into their journey and unshakable mindset.

With previous hits like “Head Held High” and “Runaway Train”, AK CEEZ is proving to be a rising powerhouse in hip hop. “Wrote a Letter” is the next step in their evolution, and fans won’t want to miss it.

AK CEEZ explains: “with this track, I wanted to delve into my own relationships while also keeping it vague enough to be relatable to any potential listeners. We all go through our ups and downs as we traverse life’s obstacles, it’s not just about our relationships with exes, it could be about old friendships too. Overall, the main message I would like people to take away from the song is: no matter what happens, or how badly things may have ended, these are things we should use to make us stronger, not something to dwell on.”

AK CEEZ—expresses himself through his music, doing it all from love songs to 90’s style boom bap. Bringing top-tier lyricism, an eminent flow, and a distinctive sound. While his true focus is on making songs that are conscious, motivating, and with meaningful lyrics that he hopes will leave a long-lasting impact on the listener.

AK CEEZ sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

I grew up in a household that always had music on, my mum got us into all sorts of stuff, everything from Pink Floyd to P!nk. I got into hip hop when I first heard RUN DMC vs. Jason Nevins - It's Like That, I remember I was always jumping around the living room going crazy.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

I'd have to credit Eminem as my biggest influence, I listened to him religiously from Eminem Show to Recovery. After that it's J. Cole, I see him currently as the best rapper and who I aspire to be like. When it comes to the UK, The Four Owls are a massive influence on me, I'd love to work with them one day.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I'm currently working on a few songs now, but I really want to start doing more collaborative songs with other rappers or singers. I'm aiming to drop an EP in late spring/early summer, I would like to release a studio album this year, but we'll just have to see how things go.

4. How would you describe your sound?

I think my sound is quite different in terms of my actual voice. When it comes to my style, I'd say it's laidback, upbeat conscious vibes. I always aim to make songs that are story driven, with meaningful intricate lyrics, that will hopefully leave a lasting impact on the listener.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

I'd have to say I don't have many options, as I've only been releasing music for the past 5-6 months. So, getting the opportunity to be an 'ON-AIR Artist Spotlight' for Breaking Sound Radio has been amazing, I really appreciate their support with getting my music out there.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

If you love music, go for it, the only thing holding us back is ourselves. Don't listen to the haters either, you’ve got to believe in yourself, that was my biggest problem for a long time. I was anxious as hell to show my music and upload it online, but once I got past that hurdle it just felt so natural.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Yung Kenz for sure, my rap partner and my nephew, he's got so much talent and at just 19 years old, I see loads of potential in him! I know he's not exactly under the radar, but I've been listening to a good bit of Briti$h too, I think he's sick, that laidback style and his bars are always on point.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

I've not got any albums specifically that I'm listening to at the moment. I have a playlist of hip hop songs I usually have on rotation; it's got the likes of: J. Cole, The Four Owls, Marlon Craft, Ocean Wisdom, Mac Miller, Loyle Carner, Joey Bada$$, Bugzy Malone and many more.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I'm a single dad to an amazing daughter, I've brought her up since she was three years old, she's eleven now so with her getting older and spending more time with her friends, this has allowed me to start putting more time into chasing the music dream. Other than spending time with her I play football once a week too.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

My three things would have to be: no unnecessary interruptions, with having ADD I like to be able to stay fully focused on the song I'm working on. Not exactly healthy I know, but I love my Mango Loco Monsters. Then finally I'd have to say good vibes, I like to feed off others positivity.
