Louisiana native I Am Roze releases their new EP ’Social Commentary’ today via LAB Records.
The EP follows a spellbinding COLORS show where Roze performed lead track ‘Dollar’ which can be watched on YouTube.
Not much about I Am Roze (they/them) is ordinary. Coming from Louisiana, Roze’s music career began when they were homeless, a few months after their house had been destroyed by hurricane Laura; Fred Again sampled one of Roze’s Instagram clips and used it for 2 songs on his second album. A couple of years later, Roze’s first live performance was on Later… with Jools Holland, their second was at the Royal Albert Hall a few weeks later, performing their song Definition Of Happy with Nitin Sawhney CBEto a stunned audience. Jools himself said it was the best performance he could remember.
Social Commentary is a beautifully emotional and thought-provoking body of work, which features production from a star-studded team of producers including Eg White (Adele, Amy Whinehouse) and Grades (Grammy Award winner – Dua Lipa, Stormzy).
It’s no surprise that so many legends have supported Roze already, including Summer Walker, Timbaland, and even Ghostface Killah from the Wu Tang Clan requested to rap one of Roze’s tracks, after seeing a tiktok. Roze has amassed 830k followers on social media, by being their most authentic self; with a unique blend of brutally honest songwriting and jaw-dropping vocal ability, many people are already viewing Roze as a generational talent…
I Am Roze has a lot to say and you’re absolutely going to want to hear it.
