Rising star and Haitian-Canadian rapper Lou Phelps releases his latest single titled “WHAT NOW” which is the first official glimpse into his highly anticipated sophomore album, CHÈLBÈ, dropping April 4th.
"What Now" hits like an adrenaline rush, packing raw energy that courses through every beat. It rides that sweet spot between uplifting vibes and edgy intensity, with just enough heat to keep things spicy. The track's got this magnetic pull that'll drag you straight to the dance floor.
Produced by KAYTRANADA, the track showcases Lou's signature Bounce sound over innovative production, creating an anthem that bridges cultures and pushes boundaries, paying homage to the golden era of hip-hop while charting new territory in contemporary music. "WHAT NOW" pairs seductive guitar work with assertive flows, creating an undeniably groovy track made for ‘anyone chasing their dreams.’ The accompanying music video builds on Phelp’s signature sophisticated style, personifying the album's Creole title meaning of "well put-together" or "fly."
"Rap is predictable and wack as fuck in my opinion - I’m creating a new sound with rap-house. It’s something that can exist in the club, in the crib, or while working out in the gym." - Lou Phelps
Chèlbè, an 11-track album produced entirely by award-winning producer and brother KAYTRANADA, transcends the multi-faceted artist Lou Phelps from Montreal's underground favorite to international tastemaker making a way of his own. Chèlbè features a collaboration with GoldLink showcasing Phelp’s multilingual approach, weaving between English, French, and Haitian Creole to create a uniquely cosmopolitan sound.
"This album is all about promoting a lifestyle and energy—confidence, nostalgia, and individuality wrapped in the essence of 2000s-2010s jiggy hip-hop," – Lou
