EV - Sunset Behind The Tower Blocks (EP)

EV returns with his eagerly anticipated new EP ‘Sunset Behind The Tower Blocks’.

Following a prolific year for the fast rising artist, producer and songwriter EV’s eight track major label debut is out via Polydor’s dance imprint Chaos and features the fan favourite singles ‘Cuppa Tea’, ‘Sorry Mum’, ‘Chaos’ and the new release ‘Broken Britain’.

‘Sunset Behind The Tower Blocks’ showcases EV’s artistic and personal growth as he moves into his late 20’s as a father; it’s the older brother of last year’s independently released ‘DJs, Dealers and Ravers’. Inspired by the 2004 BBC Three documentary series ‘Tower Block Dreams’, the title serves as a powerful metaphor for this particular moment in his life.

“I wanted to have a vision of leaving my past and childhood behind,” says EV. “Now I've had a daughter, I've grown up massively and I’m making music that has substance. Right now really feels like the sunset of my youth – the sunset behind the tower block.

EV’s balance of no-holds-barred honesty and diamond-in-the-rough hope is exhibited over production from veteran Fraser T Smith (Adele, Kano, Stormzy) to newcomers like Luis Navidad and Ella May.

No longer content in making music for the sake of pure escapism, this time around EV is spotlighting vital subjects embedded within everyday living - including mental health, heartbreak and homelessness - with the intention of making a positive change.

“My number one rule is to make real music,” he explains of the record’s ethos. “It gets people thinking. If I could change a couple of people's perception on life, then I've achieved something.”

Having sold out a headline show at London’s Corsica Studios and supported Charlotte Plank on tour last year, EV recently announced a string live dates in support of the new project. Throughout April he will be on the road across the UK and France - with headline shows in London, Leeds, Newcastle and Paris.

With his unabashedly relatable lyrics, EV has become a one to watch for tastemakers with early support from DJ Interplanetary Criminal, Abbie McCarthy, BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and BBC introducing. EV is picking up the gauntlet to continue a lineage of working class poets, utilising club culture and music to amplify his voice in order to spread a message of hope to those across the country that feel disenfranchised.
