Ebubé - Where I Wanna Be (Single)

Hotly-tipped R&B talent Ebubé yearns to be better on vulnerable new single ‘Where I Wanna Be’.

Having left a few breadcrumbs for existing fans and R&B connoisseurs last year, Ebubé makes a strong start to the year with his official debut single. ‘Where I Wanna Be’ captures the raw frustration that comes from emotional immobility.

“Feeling stuck in a place in life is such a restricting feeling, where sometimes you don’t know where to direct your emotions,” he says. “‘Where I Wanna Be’ is a representation of that frustration, especially when you want to become better for someone else.”

Released via Independent record label Lionbear, ‘Where I Wanna Be’ is co-written alongside Tyler Lewis, and is a sublime slice of songwriting that draws from a tradition of timeless R&B which values love over toxicity.

Produced by RELYT (FLO, Victor Ray, Ayanna) and Joe Gosling (Chris Brown), the track’s intimate and soulful sonics converse with Ebubé’s rich musical foundation: the singer and multi-instrumentalist spent his formative years surrounded by R&B and gospel music before being classically educated - even playing in the orchestra at Eton which he attended with a music scholarship.

Finding himself in France where he was preparing to study medicine as the world went into lockdown due to COVID-19, Ebubé found him making an unexpected transition from classical music to R&B when he began posting clips on TikTok. These led to him being offered an opportunity to become a founding member of UK R&B group No Guidnce - and after achieving co-signs from Victoria Monet and Coco Jones and 100,000’s of streams, Ebubé is ready to step out alone.

After teasing fans before the holidays with the double drop ‘New Chapter // Hello’ and ‘For You, Love’, and following up with ‘In Your Eyes’ a multi-lingual duet with French singer Ocevne - ‘Where I Wanna Be’ sets pace for things to come this year, which will see the Ebubé making his mark with an anticipated debut project, and securing a place as a new favourite amongst R&B lovers.
