Mcxxne sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
I come from a family of singers so growing up we would always sing gospel songs and hymns with my grandmother who was a choir leader at her church. I would say that’s where it all began. My mother also has a great ear for music so I grew up hearing a lot of good music.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
Artists that influence me would be, Aaliyah, Ayra Starr, Jorja Smith and Lauryn Hill. I would like to work with Ayra Starr in the future.
3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
Right now I’m focused on creating as much as possible. I will be releasing a project sometime this year so you can look forward to that one!
4. How would you describe your sound?
I would say my sound is, soft, sultry and empowering.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
Meeting some of my young supporters after I did a show, the love and excitement they showed me was amazing. I was really shocked that I had that impact on the young generation in my city.
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
Be confident in yourself, be authentic and treat your music career like how you treat your other work, you have to put energy and effort into the work or else there won’t be any progress and most of all have fun!
