BombayMami sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Music has always been a part of me. I grew up in a household where Indian classical music and music in general was always part. Two of my aunties are/were pianists and my father always took me with him to classical concerts. Rnb, HipHop was /is the love of my life. It shaped me to who I am and gave me so much power growing up. I ended up recording hooks for rappers from a very young age. I was 14 when I was in a professional recording studio and from then on I never stopped.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

My influences are a mix of legends and modern innovators. Artists like Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar shaped my appreciation for Indian classical and playback singing. Then there’s Beyoncé & Missy Elliott, who are the ultimate performers and visionaries, and artists like M.I.A. and Raveena, who fuse culture and music so effortlessly.

As for collaborations, I’d love to work with people like  Timbaland, Doechii,, Kendrick Lamar, M.I.A, Missy Elliott, Rosalia. All of them are visionaries and people I respect highly. Also, working with A.R. Rahman would be a dream—I mean, that man is a genius.

3. What projects do you have coming up, and can you give us any info on them?

Right now, I’m gearing up for the release of my song "CHAK DHOOM DHOOM" featuring my friend and fellow artist Manny Wellz

Beyond that, I’m working on my whole album campaign for "Peaceful Attitude". I also have my fashion brand SHAVA, where I’m redefining traditional wear for a modern audience.

4. How would you describe your sound?

It’s a blend of Indian classical, R&B, and POP/WORLD music—soulful, rhythmic, and unexpected. My music is all about storytelling, emotions, and bridging cultures.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

One moment that really stuck with me was performing in Bern, seeing the crowd react, and realizing the impact of my music. There was this deep emotional connection between me and the audience, and it made everything feel so real.

Also, the first time I saw someone wearing Shava, my fashion brand—it hit me that I was building something bigger than just music. It’s all connected, and that was a proud moment.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Yes: Know who you are and own it. The industry will try to mold you into what’s "marketable," but the only thing that truly lasts is authenticity. Your uniqueness is your power.

Also, be patient and consistent—this game is not easy, but if you keep showing up, keep refining your craft, and stay true to your vision, people will notice.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Definitely! I’m loving what Doechii is doing right now. I have been following her for the past 5 years and her journey is so impressive

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I’m always creating in some form, whether it’s working on my fashion brand Shava, directing visuals, or just brainstorming new ideas. But outside of that, I love snowboarding, working out, and traveling—especially to places that inspire me culturally. And of course I am a big foodie. My next step is doing my own cooking show. That is a dream I want to fulfil.

Spending time with my family is also huge for me. They ground me and remind me why I do what I do.

10. Name three things you can't live without when in the studio.

Chai – It keeps me grounded and in the zone.

My phone and my notebook – I write lyrics, sketches, and ideas by hand before recording.

A good vibe – Whether it’s incense, the right lighting, or just the right people around me, the energy in the studio matters just as much as the music.
