Shivani Day - Too Well (Single)

Leicester-born, London-based Shivani Day releases her second consecutive single ‘Too Well’ via FAMM. Leading with an ethereal soundscape, ‘Too Well’ sees Shinvai pair up with frequent collaborator 23Sunz (BXKS, Joe James) to create a fusion of glitchy textures driven by her haunting vocals. Engaging with her introspective side, Shivani “embodies the idea of knowing someone Too Well at your own detriment,” continuing in her efforts to offer full transparency to her growing audience. The visuals - directed by Aanaya Dayaram - showcase Shivani’s growing visual aesthetic, envisaging a panther who prowls a ‘Gotham’ like city, torn between two parts of herself and a relationship.

“Lyrically ‘Too Well’ is the feeling of being left in limbo; wanting to wait for them but knowing that they wouldn’t necessarily do the same for you. The video is Digital, eerie, and ethereal all set within a dark cityscape at midnight.”

Music has been ingrained in the life of Shivani Day from birth until now. The Leicester-born, London-based artist released her debut project ‘That Which Is Not’ via FAMM in the summer of 2024, re-establishing herself in her current found form as an artist. Formally a DJ who previously lent her abilities to Boiler Room, Foundation FM, Balamii and Azeema,Shivani made an organic shift into a music-maker exploring curiosities to write music during lockdown. Having worked closely with Shae’s Universe as a vocal coach, she developed early demos which would later find themselves into a 6-track EP which was co-signed by BBC East Midlands, COLORS, Clash and Notion who cited her as an “R&B breakthrough artist showing that the sky’s the limit.” At a young age exuded independence and introspection, traits that guided her through her early years. Immersed in a diverse array of musical genres thanks to her father's eclectic tastes, Shivani's musical palette was broad and unconventional for her age and cultural background. During her early youth, being exposed to genres such as Chicago house, Latin, Jazz, Euro electronic, reggae, Gregorian chant music and more. Representing her South Asian heritage is something important to Shivani and something she crafts and fully weaves within her music, personal style, and videos. Now, her sound seamlessly blends electronica, trip-hop, alternative R&B and avant-garde elements. Ethereal, flowing, and contrasting, Shivani's music invites listeners on a transcendent journey through her rich tapestry of influences.
