419C - WHEN A ROSE DIES (EP)

Vienna-based artist 419C releases his new EP WHEN A ROSE DIES, through MN2S. The project marks a pivotal moment in the artist's evolution, both musically and personally. A blend of modern R&B, pop, and folk influences, the EP reflects the emotional journey 419C has navigated over the past year.

WHEN A ROSE DIES is the first part of a larger project, THORNES OF A DEAD ROSE, and signals the end of 419C's previous artistic persona. This release comes after a period of deep personal reflection and healing following a heartbreak in early 2024. Over the course of the year, 419C wrote and recorded eight tracks across multiple cities, including Vienna, Paris, and London. The project is a reflection of these travels, offering an intimate exploration of emotion and connection.

"Writing this EP was part of my healing process," 419C shares. "I wanted to capture that feeling of vulnerability and share it with others who may have been going through similar experiences. Music became a way to express those emotions, and the stories are not just mine, but for everyone who's had to go through something tough."

The EP is built around 419C's distinctive sound, which fuses acoustic and electronic elements. With smooth vocals, acoustic guitar, and synthesizers, it delivers a thoughtful blend of intimacy and atmospheric production. The release features strong nods to influences like Frank Ocean, Odeal, and PARTYNEXTDOOR, bringing a fresh take on contemporary R&B, particularly exemplified in focus track FEVER.

Alongside the music, 419C’s passion for visual storytelling plays a key role in the project. As a photographer, he brings an artistic eye to both the music and an accompanying script for a visual project he is working on, which can be found on his website (www.lovesexpensive.com/screen), offering a full sensory experience that enhances the emotive depth of the music.
