Naila - Fall In (Single) + 10 Questions
What if you flipped the dating script? "‘Fall In’ is Naila’s unapologetic take on modern romance—turning the tables on casual love, playing men at their own game, and keeping her distance while keeping it sexy.
With sultry vocals, layered harmonies, and slick, bass-driven production, the track plays out like a warning and a wink: she’s the “unserious candidate,” and she likes it that way. It’s a toxic-girl anthem for anyone who’s ever been told to “open up” when they were just vibing.
Cheeky, confident, and emotionally detached by design, Fall In is a bold new entry in Naila’s sonic diary—one that reminds us sometimes the player is prettier than the game.
With a voice that glides between softness and strength, and lyrics that hit where it hurts, Naila is set to become one of the most captivating new voices in pop. Her music sits at the intersection of vulnerability and confidence—raw emotion wrapped in sleek, genre-blending production.
Since her debut single Nights Like These in 2020, Naila has carved out her own lane as a storyteller who isn’t afraid to be soft, bold, moody, or magnetic and unfiltered in all the right ways.
One of Naila’s goals is to be the first major Black pop stars to truly break through to the mainstream market. She’s not just here to be heard—she’s here to be seen. Her ambition is rooted in representation, and she’s using her voice to carve out space for herself and others who have long been overlooked in pop.
She’s already picked up support from BBC Introducing, Reprezent, and the BBC Asian Network, alongside playlists on Spotify’s Fresh Finds and Amazon Music’s +44 R&B. Her music has been featured by Wordplay Magazine, Mixtape Madness, Gal-Dem, and Noctis, and she’s brought her sound to stages including BST Hyde Park and The Ned.
Now entering her most confident era yet, Naila is ready to go deeper, bolder, and louder—with a new EP on the horizon and a clear mission to claim her space in pop. The story is still being written—but she’s holding the pen.
Naila sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
My mum always encouraged me to pursue my passions. When I was seven, I declared that I wanted to be a pop star, and she thought it was a phase. It wasn't. I loved going to live concerts and festivals and hearing music from across the world – we were regulars at WOMAD as I was growing up. And I think that, since I'm neurodiverse, humming and singing helped me to stay calm in an over stimulating world. Music became my safe space and it has naturally translated that I am now turning singing into my career.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
Growing up, I was obsessed with the Jonas Brothers, Madonna, Rhianna. Anything and everything pop! My main goal now is to collaborate with behind-the-scenes producers and writers like Kuk Harrell and Pharrell, who have worked on my favourite albums and tracks. Currently, I'd love to work with songwriter Delacey for her storytelling abilities. Additionally, Benny Blanco's work with Maroon 5 greatly inspires me.
3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
I have an upcoming EP that reflects my journey in dating and love. I started dating again last summer and began writing about my experiences during sessions. After a few months, I realized I had created something substantial and ready for release. I'm excited to put the final touches on it and share it with the world. I hope those who listen find it as exciting and relatable as I have in creating it.
4. How would you describe your sound?
I’d say my sound is catchy, cheeky, fun, playful and relatable.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
Heading to Los Angeles alone without knowing anyone and taking steps to realise this project and release this music has been challenging. It is intimidating to release music to the world because there is no control over it afterwards, which can be unsettling. So I’m proud of how I’ve taken this on and am navigating the process.
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
Set clear goals, take small steps, and stay true to yourself despite others' opinions.
7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?
I recently discovered Cherry and I obviously recommend checking out Fall In.
8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?
I listen to music in playlists of my favourite artists rather than albums. Currently, my playlists of Drake, Usher, and Madonna are getting the most attention, but my all-time favourite album is "KTSE" by Teyana Taylor.
9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?
I’ve just started running. It’s really hard work but I feel great afterwards. I also love vintage shopping. But mainly my downtime is about connecting with people – friends and family. And if I have time I try to travel and experience new cultures as that inspires my song writing. And I’ve just started to develop my producing skills more.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
My laptop – That’s where I create music and ideas. I struggle with spelling and handwriting, so I type all my lyrics. Plus, I need it for producing.
My teddy bear - "Woof Woof," comes everywhere with me. I can't survive the day without him. It’s a neurodiverse thing!
Other musicians - I love collaborating on my music. So while I respect artists who handle everything themselves, nothing beats being in the studio with others, sharing ideas, and catching a vibe.
