Multi-faceted R&B talent Ebubé returns with the announcement of his anticipated debut EP ‘Slow Jam Szn’, along with a brand new single ‘Poison’ out now.
‘Slow Jam Szn’ includes recent singles ‘Where I Wanna Be’ and ‘Lay With Me’ and is out 30th May via Lionbear Records. “I wanted to bring back slow, sensual but meaningful R&B,” says Ebubé of the timeless EP, which blends a contemporary perspective with well-established R&B traditions. “‘Slow Jam Szn’ comes from a very personal and vulnerable place. I want to create a world in which listeners can be free to really feel the emotions they may hide deep down.”
To give fans another taste of what to expect from the six-track release, Ebubé has shared confessional new track ‘Poison’, produced by Joe Gosling (FLO, Ndotz), on which he finds himself willing to risk it all for a dangerous love.
“What might at first appear to be bad for you could actually be exactly what you need,” he explains. “This song is about just that; a relationship that even though others might have their judgements, that person is all you ever wanted.”
‘Slow Jam Szn’ acts as a statement of intent for the rising R&B auteur. The six tracks chosen offer insight into Ebubé’s rich musical foundation: the singer and multi-instrumentalist (EP tracks ‘Foresight’ and ‘What Can I Do’ are both self-produced) spent his formative years surrounded by R&B and gospel music before being classically educated - even playing in the orchestra at Eton which he attended with a music scholarship.
Ebubé is fast becoming a favourite of R&B connoisseurs, with early support from taste-making platforms Rated R&B, COLORS, CLASH and The Line of Best Fit. A classically trained violinist who was preparing to study medicine, Ebubé made an unexpected pivot when he reconnected with the music of his youth during the pandemic. He caught on fast via his R&B covers on TikTok, both in France and at home in the UK, where he eventually became a founding member of the Victoria Monet and Coco Jones co-signed group No Guidnce. Now ready to step out alone, Ebubé is preparing to make his mark with a debut project that follows a tradition of timeless R&B that values love over toxicity.
