Kryptik - Unplugged (Album)

For over a decade, Kryptik has been a permanent fixture and played a significant role in pushing the boundaries of Scottish hiphop. His latest body of work is no exception; receiving critical acclaim and attracting an international audience on platforms across the globe.

The new album titled “Unplugged”, produced by Louis Seivwright (BBC, The Rap Game UK), has reached the final stage of its drip release with 2 fresh tracks to close the chapter…

Wait A Minute” - A soothing vocal sample and percussive filter sweeps lure you in and provoke a meditative sense of calm. The organic sound of the kick drum acts as the heartbeat of the song, as we journey within on this deeply pensive track. A different energy from what we’re used to from Kryptik, as he takes a more laid back, almost spoken word approach in his delivery. In contrast, the lyrics seem more powerful and perfectly fit the vibe, as he tips his hat to loved ones lost, revealing his experience of coping with survivors guilt and feeling overwhelmed. A very poetic piece that stands out from the rest of the project yet has somehow been seamlessly woven in to sound natural.

Penny For My Thoughts” - An incredibly uplifting and heartwarming song about fatherhood. A more classic 90’s ‘Boom Bap’ style beat with orchestral instrumentation help elevate the mood to end the album on a high note. Dedicated to his daughter Penny, Kryptik speaks about the positive impact becoming a father has had on him and to vows to keep improving to be the best Dad he can. A beautifully honest sentiment that has already seen support from BBC Introducing in Scotland.

Unplugged is available on all streaming platforms now.
