PREMIERE: Dolenz - Golden Spike ft Jehst

Dolenz - Golden Spike f. Jehst

Serving as a follow up to his dope dystopian debut album Lingua Franca, Dolenz returns with another slice of his dark and head-nodding sound with the Golden Spike EP including a Sumgii remix of the track Golden Spike which we are proud to be presenting today. The track features Jehst, who Dolenz enlisted to spit over his bubbling retro-futurist boom bap beat. Jehst’s lyrics eerily mirror the situation that we currently find ourselves in during the lockdown, as he raps about being stuck in a “no-fly zone” and the general public being content with “staring at the screen” whilst society falls apart before their eyes.

To accompany the track, Dolenz worked with South West-based filmmaker Dean Puckett (Grasp The Nettle Films) to create the accompanying video. As the video was produced during lockdown, Dean sourced vintage science, biological, public health and science fiction films from the Prelinger and A/V Geeks Archives then spun them into a narrative about a man who is whisked away from his native planet to aid population on a new one, his dreams filled with haunting memories of his loved ones. Some of our favourite videos of this year have been created during this period, and it’s astounding to see the level of creativity achieved by so many Uk based creatives.

So without futher-ado, here is the premiere of Golden Spike, featuring Jehst, hailing the launch of Dolenz’ Golden Spike EP which is out now from www.dolenz.live and all streaming platforms.
