The Man Down Programme Film (Trailer)
Introducing The Man Down Programme. MDP was set up in order to help men, particularly in creative industries, discuss their mental health and experiences of distress or trauma. Unfortunately men under the age of 45 make up three quarters of the UK’s suicide rates and tentative research appears to suggest a 20% increase for those working in creative industries.
MDP wants to focus on this, primarily for those working in the music industry. Their aim is to widen the discussion by ‘allowing human emotion to be normalised but conversely look at the causation of distress’ for those affected. Men should be encouraged to be more vocal about their struggles and not bottle it up or suffer in silence as we so often hear.
In order to raise awareness they’re working on a film featuring candid interviews with notable artists who discuss their personal experience with mental health struggles and the coping mechanisms they’ve used to survive.
The current circumstances with lockdown has prevented them from being able to finish their interviews but they’re still in need of donations to keep things building for when we’re all allowed out again. Every contribution is hugely appreciated!
To find out a little bit more below about what MDP are planning to achieve once they’re up and in full swing watch below or visit their website and you can follow their progress on Facebook & Instagram.
