INTRODUCING: Washington & Holmes
A super soulful duo from London are emerging as a creative force to be reckoned with. Fusing raw soul sounds that are reminiscent of D’Angelo, Maxwell, Curtis Mayfield and Otis Redding to name a few, with a modern aesthetic, Renn Washington & Steve Wellington (aka Dreadlox Holmes) aka Washington and Holmes are NOT to be slept on.
The super talented musicians have been working together for nearly twenty years (2002 to be exact!). With their first album Altered Frequencies dropping 2006, they have evolved ever since. Between them, they have worked or toured with various projects and played alongside popular artists such as Jamiroquai, Basement Jaxx, Beverley Knight, De La Soul, Roachford, Keziah Jones, Michelle N'Dgeo Cello, Cass Lewis (Skunk Anansie) Anastasia and Iris Gold, in addition, to live appearances on MTV and the UK's Jools Holland Show.
After focusing on their own careers which includes writing, composing or voicing music for TV, film scores, soundtracks and commercials, they have returned in 2020 to offer something different, fresh and yet rooted in their influences and that timeless soul sound. This is perfect for isolation, so turn it up loud and get to know Washington & Holmes, you won’t be disappointed!
To get you in the mood, here’s their latest track, “You U 8nt sh!t” featuring backing vocals and violin from Nadia Tinkers, taken from the debut single taken from 'Hearts of Men' soul series / Episode 1.
