Premiere: The Repeat Beat Poet feat. SafeNath – This That

It’s been a short while since we’ve heard something as visceral as this… introducing The Repeat Beat Poet’s This That featuring SafeNath. The steamroller wordsmith duo play word games over three minutes of grubby double-bass and breakbeat-tinged greatness – lyrically seamless; tenaciously flitting between personal and political themes throughout. A soundtrack for current events without a doubt; give it a listen and purchase it if you can to help support Ruff Sqwad Arts Foundation.

This That is from a double volume various artist compilation (LL017) on the madly eclectic Loose Lips imprint. The multi-genre compilation is split in two parts with music from all over the world. Vol I is more energetic; full of dancefloor pumpers and wild, uptempo beats. Vol II is designed to feed the afterparty – aimed squarely at the weirdos! Something for everyone then.

All proceeds from LL017 go straight to Ruff Sqwad Arts Foundation – a Tower Hamlets based charitable cause set up by Grime legends Prince Owusu-Agyekum (aka Rapid) and Ebenezer Ayerh (aka Slix). Their aim is “to give young people direct access to mainstream resources so that they can reach their full potential in their creative careers and life.”; a hugely worthwhile cause particularly for those from disadvantaged backgrounds in London.
