10 Questions: Miles from Kinshasa

 

We’re back with another round of 10 Questions to get the lowdown on artists that are on our radar. We were lucky enough to get some time with Miles from Kinshasa – a humble and honest musician who has risen the ranks by pairing truly heartfelt lyrics with a nostalgic and soulful production. Miles has just released a first single Wearing Smiles from his forthcoming EP Beloved which is out late next month, so keep your ears open…

1. Contestant, what’s your name, chosen craft and where are you based?
Miles from Kinshasa, musician & South London.

2. How would you describe your sound?
I make songs for those moments on the night tube/night bus when you’d rather be in an Uber.

3. Who/what do you consider to be the biggest influence on your music?
Kanye West and Jai Paul both taught me to not give a fuck. The latter took me out for a drink once, cool guy.

4. What’s the proudest moment to date for you as an artist?
Making a song in my friend’s living room for fun whilst playing GTA San Andreas that’s given me a career. Who would of thought. There’s plenty more but I’m happy I was just having fun at that point and nothing was forced.

5. Do you have any advice for our readers who maybe trying to play the mad game of music?
Take breaks, sometimes take long breaks and figure out what you’re really trying to say and do with this. You’ll make better decisions, trust me.

7. What have you got planned for the not so distant future?
I’m dropping an EP very soon, it’s really good.

8. What’s the album you’ve played more than any other?
808’s & Heartbreak

9. What’s the best concert you’ve been to and where was it?
Watch The Throne and it’s not even close.

10. Name three things you can’t live without?
Headphones, plantain & alone time
