Hailing from Ghana but raised in Britain is newcomer Natalie Oaks with her debut single ‘One Of a Kind’. The instrumentation consistent beat with piano, warm bass and a dash of some beautiful other effects to add to the arrangement. I can here a mixture of neo-soul and hints of an R&B style. Her smooth and conversational delivery draws you in and makes you want to follow her storytelling. In the lyrics she speaks about doubting some of her decision making. However having someone you care about giving you clarity can ease the stress a little, hence the title is absolutely fitting. This is easy listening, I can imagine eating a picnic with the sun warming my face with ‘One Of a Kind’ playing, telling my friend to turn it up because this is a gem.
