South East London rising star Deema graces us with a first taster of fresh music this year with new single ‘Can I?’, produced by long-term collaborator Dom Valentino (who produced his 2020 EP CHEW YOUR FOOD). Over a piano led beat, Deema effortlessly raps about the influx in asked favours that comes with growing success. Reminiscent of classic 90’s hip-hop, Deema puts his distinctively British stamp on this highly addictive offering, he explains further, “‘Can I?’ came around from me spitting while Dom was playing bass. “Spitting in the chorus, I ain’t even wrote it” probably sums up this song best. Some of it was freestyled, Dom was tracking the bass at the same time. We recorded it just as we came out of the first lockdown and this was the first thing we made in months.”
