Kwaku Asante’s drops his new single “Illusions”. The track arrives as his second offering from his EP ODE", out June 25th.

Fronted by Kwaku’s signature, standout baritone vocals, the track outlines the notion of calling on various vices to cope with emotions, driven by soft, understated percussion and water-tight instrumentation. On the surface “Illusions” is a warm and easy listen that nods to his seemingly effortless neo-soul sound, underpinned by Kwaku’s razor sharp lyricism and references to deeper rooted turmoil.

This song is about the short-term things I sometimes indulge in, to get me through tough times. When I just need some sort of high or feeling of euphoria to get me through unprecedented times brought on by uncertainty & frustration in things not happening maybe as fast as I would like them to"

Riding high from his previous single “Angel”, 2021 is already en route to be a milestone year for the rising enigmatic star, as he awaits a sold-out headline show and residency at the Jazz Cafe this November. Having achieved critical acclaim across the likes of COMPLEX (R&B Ones to Watch 2021), TRENCH and GUAP, Kwaku continues to attract musical powerhouses across the Atlantic, previously supporting Jay Prince, Amber Mark and Grace Carter.
