Award-winning musician and songwriter Jay Johnson may be in the early stages of his music career, but his growing urban flair combined with the classical musical training from his childhood results in some truly seminal sounds.
Now unveiling his second release of the year complete with a conscious tone, Hip Hop elements and a laid back but informative demeanour, “The Same” is an honest and open letter to his listeners, as he lays his thoughts bare on the struggles collectively encountered by many, who find solace in knowing they’re not the only one.
Although embarking on a new creative direction, this sound still stems from Jay’s earlier Hip Hop influences, with the addition of an impact from listening to more relaxed genres being beneficial when it comes to his craft.
“Speaking on the track and it’s sound, he explains “Over the past year with the pandemic, it’s become too easy to stress about life in general and what the future holds. Lo-fi’s been an invaluable safe haven for me and I can’t wait to explore more sounds and productions with this vibe.”
