Mimikat - Days n Nights (Single)

London based indie R&B artist Mimikat is inviting listeners to hear her debut EP ‘Where It Started’, originally released exclusively on limited edition vinyl with Rough Trade for friends and family, with first taste ‘Days n Nights’.

Sheffield born and Singapore/Hong Kong raised, “Mimi” is a reference to her infatuation with Mariah Carey from the age of five, as well as a Mandarin colloquialism for smile, whilst “kat” was inspired by her first real audience, a singular neighbourhood cat that would stroll up to the window of her childhood home while she practiced violin.

Following a noise complaint one summer afternoon, Mimikat joined forces with her neighbour turned collaborator, label-head whizz kid Azekel. By early 2020, Mimikat’s debut EP ‘Where It Started’ was born via Thunderlightning Recordings - a vibrant body of work that explores the inner conflict, abundant joy and expansive freedom that comes with navigating the years of our early 20s.
