Philly B + Budasac - El Hakama (Single)
El Hakama fuses heavy rolling jungle breaks and a thundering bass line with a haunting vocal which drifts across the multiple grooves of this hostile, yet uplifting Philly B soundscape. The vocal stabs are taken from a recording of a local Hakama from Darfur, West Sudan who sings for peace and unity in her region, a place where music can spark or diffuse a battle and where words and melodies are like a medicine for the soul. El Hakama does indeed offer a musical healing, but one of a quite different nature. Once the bassline hits and you start to see the signs of a screwface emerging, you know everything is going to be alright. This release sees Philly connecting with long time brother in arms, producer Budasac who offers up a tearing re-lick of the track to shake your bass bins.
