Jordan Rakei - Send My Love (Single)

The latest single from multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer, and songwriter Jordan Rakei ‘Send My Love’ marks the second single off of his upcoming fourth studio album ‘What We Call Life’ to be released via Ninja Tune on September 17th.
This latest single shows Rakei send a heartfelt message from London, his adopted home since 2015 back to his family in Australia: “It’s a stand for my independence, like saying: I’m fine here, don’t worry about me, send my love back home.” This latest album shows a shift from Jordan, moving away from the big questions of how social media and technology interferes with our sense of Humanity, represented in his 2019 album ‘Origin’, making the change to talk more openly from the heart, something he has attributed to listening to singer-songwriters such as Laura Marling, Scott Matthews, Joni Mitchell, and John Martyn while writing his new record. “Their lyrics are usually very honest, and sometimes not even ambiguous,” he says. “I was jealous of how open they were when my stuff in the past had been more like commentary.”
‘Send My Love’ also sees Jordan expand his sonic vocabulary, whilst at it’s core the single will be familiar to his fans, with his incredible blend of neo-soul and hip-hop standing as strong as ever, but now with the added layers of electronic sounds, and ambient atmospheres being blended into his sound, creating something truly special that creates something richer and more detailed than ever.

Jordan Rakei’s 2019 album ‘Origin’ received praise from The Observer, Mixmag, Complex, and GQ, earned an unexpected shout-out from Elton John, led to a collaboration with rap legend Common, and saw Rakei give an incredible performance for NPR’s coveted Tiny Desk Concert series. It also followed collaborations with the likes of Loyle Carner (with whom he co-wrote, produced and performed on ‘Ottolenghi’ and the Jorja Smith-featuring “Loose Ends”), Tom Misch and Alfa Mist. He has also joined Chic’s Nile Rodgers for a writing session and recorded with Terrace Martin, producer for Kendrick and Snoop Dogg, and Herbie Hancock.
