‘ANKA’ is the debut project from up-and-coming independent South-East London wordsmith, David Armada.

The tape is beautiful, crisp blend of classic hip-hop sounds and themes, with a contemporary twist from a UK perspective and enough lyrical depth to allow for new discoveries with every listen. Featuring UK underground staples Deema and DomTavlor (who also assists with production), ‘ANKA’ is a tapestry of feelings and vibes while staying cohesive and true to its core vision.

Recorded at various studios around SE London, including a home studio in his University of Leicester accommodation, ‘ANKA’ is a brief diary entry in the life of a young black male trying to grow up in an environment that works to actively stifle growth. David Armada attempts to deconstruct his surroundings and find his place in the wider context, while grappling with his own insecurities and internal battles.
