Bawo ft: Reek0 - Same Team (Single)
With his name bubbling up after an exceptional year, exciting West London rapper Bawo returns with his emphatic new single ‘Same Team’, which was produced by London talent Oscar #Worldpeace and features rising rapper/producer Reek0, out today.
The release of ‘Same Team’ follows on from Bawo’s June release ‘It’s An Honour’, another collaborative banger with Oscar #Worldpeace. On ‘Same Team’, Bawo showcases his signature storytelling approach, detailing sharp, vivid slices of his life and surroundings. He makes a clear proclamation that he is focusing on music as a career, after fielding questions about backup plans and about this being a hobby, as he vocalises in the song, “If I wanna progress, I gotta profess with every intent.” Elsewhere on the track, he emphasises that he will always be there to support his friends. Reek0 delivers a guest verse in his distinctive style, as Oscar #Worldpeace creates a simple yet evocative production that establishes the song’s spaced-out nature.
Speaking on the meaning behind ‘Same Team’, Bawo explains: “The song is about having the strength to ask for help despite maybe not feeling okay; people close to me maybe thinking that I'm moving different but I'm still me and still here so yeah, shout me, 'cos we can't do life alone."
One of the UK’s most gifted new voices on the scene, Bawo’s status has risen through the ranks substantially this year as he has cultivated a growing loyal fanbase and respect amongst his peers. After selling out his debut headline show last year at The Social, he joined breakthrough rap talent Knucks on his UK album tour earlier this year, as well as being invited by Kojey Radical to perform at The Great Escape. Following his debut EP Live & Let Thrive which dropped in 2021, he has consistently released a thread of well-received singles since, accumulating over 17 million global streams in the process. Not stopping there, he has collaborated with some of the finest talent including BXKS, Louis Culture and MINIKINGZ, while also garnering support from the likes of DJ Target, Jamz Supernova, Jack Saunders, Snoochie Shy and Kenny Allstar across BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra.
