PREMIERE: Cici Lara - Creations of You (EP)

‘Creation of You’ is the title track from the alternative R&B E.P, released on Cici Lara’s own label ‘Flower Fountain Records’.

The EP shares chronological stories of different stages of intimate involvement with another. Through initial connection, love, complications and finally letting them go to find yourself. Cici Lara self-produced and recorded 4 of the 6 tracks from her bedroom studio in East London. Building up her own confidence as a female producer and believing in her own vision for this 3 year long project. Drawing inspiration from other female R&B of now and the past, including; Cleo Sol, Joyce Wrice, Erykah Badu and Sade to create those chilled, sultry, soulful vocals, keeping a relaxing feel throughout.

The opening and ending tracks were produced by Tom Gilbertson, bringing in his own hip- hop, funk, R&B influences; Tom Misch, The Internet and Snoh Allegra. The EP exudes feelings, as uncontrollable love can be, its conveys every emotion it entails and Cici has written a diary format to explain her runnings into intimacy.

Cici say’s - “This project has been a puzzle that I’ve enjoyed finding the pieces. Though the tracks are now in order, ‘Without You’ was written first and ‘Love You’ was written last. It has been fun slotting in my different experiences across 3 years.” “‘Love you’ was the hardest to write, having never truly been in love, I pulled inspiration from the initial feeling of wanting to love and how new and ‘unnatural’ the feeling is but knowing it’s something special. I find it easier to write down the fantasy, confusion and pain someone can bring you, then the joy of it.” The title track ‘Creation of You’ has already been premiered on air for BBC introducing Derby by Dean Jackson.

Born in Spain & hailed from a town in Derbyshire, Cici Lara moved to East London seven years ago. Finishing her studies in Creative Musicianship, she is now concentrating on developing herself as an artist & producer, feeding R&B influences into her work.
