Kwaku Asante - Thinking of You (Official Video)

Rising singer Kwaku Asante releases the video for his new single, ‘Thinking of You’ taken from his forthcoming EP, ‘Wanderlust’.

Directed by Cosmo Rush, the clean-cut visuals provide the perfect backdrop for the subliminal story as we see Kwaku take on a variety of characters. The cast includes a school teacher encouraging others to not make the same mistakes as him and a man seeking advice from a counsellor which emphasises the reoccurring message that aims to normalise talking about your feelings. Produced by HYLNU (Rachel Chinouriri, KAM-BU), ‘Thinking of You’ is a reflective song that captures the feeling of regret through Kwaku’s introspective lyrics accompanied by dreamlike, floaty beats. Nostalgic emotions seep out when his love interest moves on, exposing feelings of loss and disappointment.

Speaking about the video Kwaku states: “To be oneself in a relationship is everyone's dream, and for us to exist on a spectrum of emotions but still be appreciated. We are constantly changing and learning daily and this could be due to an array of internal and external factors altering our moods and the way we express ourselves. We express ourselves through what we wear, through body language and I want this video to showcase that” Honing his craft over the past 4 years, Kwaku refuses to conform with his last EP, ‘Blue Solstice’ proving his versatility by blending elements of R&B, Pop, Disco, Neo Soul, Funk and beyond.

Following the release, Kwaku has been on a journey of self-discovery and has arrived at a new phase of his life both personally and professionally. He has now re-established himself in the city he grew up in after an extended period of time out of London and he is more inspired than ever to keep things moving. This year Kwaku has also already had some career highlights, being on tour with Samm Henshaw as well as selling out his last headline show at The Jazz Cafe.
