The Allergies - Reconcile (EP)
In advance of their sixth album, all weather A-listers The Allergies are back to serve up that vintage soul-sampling swagger on this blues-flavoured EP of new and classic material.
The forgotten film dialogue that pushes potent funk wide open is quick to declare “there’s no making peace between you and me” - but The Allergies are here to build bridges and restore relations on their latest larger-than-life track 'Reconcile'. Over late 60s library music loops, microchipped into microseconds and reworked into brand new time signatures, they deliver the perfect musical backdrop of flavourful forgiveness.
Long-time collaborator Charles Morgan joins the cause, belting out some career-best gospel and blues vocals (written by unofficial third crew member Andy Cooper), as the throbbing drums, horns, and bass push and pull him in all directions. Full-throttle modern soul, fed through The Allergies beat blender.
Also joining in are the Chicago blues-flipping head-nodder ‘Treat You Right’; the dynamite R&B-sampling stomper ‘Sometimes I Wonder’; and to show that The Allergies have been preaching that good gospel since they started, the multi-million Spotify-streamed classic ‘God Walked Down’.
