BOJ x Ajebutter22 - Sweet Life / Rora (Double Single)
BOJ and Ajebutter22 first joined forces back in 2012 on single ‘Omo Pastor’ in which they found a natural synergy, foreshadowing a long and fruitful collaborative relationship. It was in 2018 that they solidified their partnership with the release of the first Make E No Cause Fight EP which amassed millions of plays across streaming platforms and featured standout songs ‘24’ and ‘Tugba’. The following year they recruited Nigerian rapper Falz for the follow up Make E No Cause Fight II and further cemented their brand of braggadocious, fun and enticing music.
As well as the EP release on November 17th, the pair will be performing at Piano People at Drumsheds London on 19th November and there will also be an Action Boyz Merchandise Pop-Up at Imprint Kings Cross on 21st November.
Both artists have found success within their own career’s; BOJ being a pioneer of the Alté sound in the Nigerian scene and solidifying himself as a mainstay through years of consistently quality work. In 2021 he provided the hook for UK rapper Dave’s standout single ‘Lazarus’ from his We’re All Alone In This Together LP, with the popularity of the track leading to BOJ joining him on stage at his Parklife Festival headline performance. In 2022 BOJ released the critically acclaimed LP Gbadaga Express featuring Afrobeats icons Wizkid, Davido and Mr Eazi as well as upcoming stars Bnxn, Fireboy, Enny and Amaarae.
Meanwhile, Ajebutter22 has similarly carved out a lane in which he finds himself as a contender for being one of the most exciting Afrobeats artists in recent years. In 2017, he unveiled the deeper levels of his artistry with the concept album What Happens In Lagos, providing an overview of life in contemporary Nigeria, delving into issues ranging from socio-economic inequality, relationships, wealth, power and his own aspirations for the future. Earlier this year Ajebutter22 released Soundtrack To The Good Life which included an all star cast of feature artists including Not3s, Kida Kudz, LADIPOE.
