Killer Mike ft: Damien ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley - Run (Official Video)

Having recently earned nominations in all three major rap categories (album, song and performance) of the forthcoming Grammy Awards, Killer Mike today drops a new version of Run featuring Damien ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley.

The original version of Run was released back in July 2022 as the lead single from Killer Mike’s acclaimed album, Michael.  An ode to perseverance, the song is inspired by Black excellence in the face of systemic adversity and the intrinsic role that Black people have had in shaping America’s culture and economy.

The new incarnation of Run both features and is produced by Damian Marley - reggae royalty and son of Bob Marley.  The accompanying video was shot in Miami.

“Hip-hop and reggae are both people’s music.  People's music speaks for the salt of the earth, the worker class that toils and constitutes the masses,” states Mike.  “I am proud that Bob's son and Denise's son united the music, the vibes, and the diaspora to make this song for THE PEOPLE.  Run To Glory Together!”

Killer Mike's Michael is the rapper's origin story; a highly-personal album drawing on his experiences growing up in Atlanta, selling drugs as a teenager, the death of his mother and finding salvation in music - the record features Andre 3000, Young Thug, Future, El-P and others, and is executive produced by No I.D. (Jay-Z, Kanye West) and Killer Mike.
