Ivan Ave ft: Children of Zeus - Inthecut (Single)

Prolific Norwegian MC Ivan Ave, has just dropped his new single ‘Inthecut’, a collaboration with Manchester soul/hip-hop group Children of Zeus. This single is the fifth single release from Ivan’s fourth studio album, All Season Gear, due to be released on 10th March via Oslo-based label Mutual Intentions.

Through All Season Gear, Ivan Ave offers a glimpse into the various seasons he and his friends went through in the last three years. Recorded during the highs and lows of the pandemic, the project explores healing, falling in love, existence, and observing/commenting on the hyper-social information age. As well as flexing his own production skills across the record, Ivan also collaborated with the likes of Sasac, Mndsgn, Like and DJ Harrison to create a rich tapestry of rhythms.

‘InTheCut’ brings slower, more melodic, R&B vibes to the album, an exciting new direction for Ivan compared the classic, jazzy hip-hop production of the previous singles. With the soulful contribution from Children of Zeus, ‘InTheCut’ is packed with beautiful jazz licks and synth lines, interwoven with a stunning chorus performed by CoZ’s Tyler Daley who showcases his signature harmonies for added effect. The track is brought together by the relaxed and playful verses from both Ivan and CoZ’s Konny Kon.

Speaking on the track, Ivan Ave shares, “Inthecut came about when Mndsgn sent me a beat that I felt sounded like a CoZ collab. I put the idea to the guys and they delivered like they always do. The energy of the track is to me a testament to coming out of pandemic times with something more to offer still. We made it through what seemed like the end of so many music careers. And here we are still making the most of it, still going on tour, still in the cut doing the music thing our way.”
