MAX RAD - Joy Wonder (Album)

Following on from a flurry of singles, ‘Joy Wonder’ is MAX RAD’s impressive new album complete with its unheard offering ‘Let Me Think About It’ and ‘Hold Fire’. The album showcases MAX RAD’s musical ability. With each track bringing something different he somehow manages to create a well-flowing offering that evokes many different emotions, blending groove and tranquility together.

Tracks such as “Moonshine” feature soulful vocals, atmospheric synths and minimal but effective percussion. It’s a vibrant offering that features weird and wonderful instrumentation throughout, pulling us fully in. “Let Me Think About It” creates swirling walls of noise that are packed instrumentally but also offer moments of calmness.

Speaking about the album, he says: “I wanted to make something as hopeful and positive as I could at a time when things felt very unsettled around me. The record was made while living in Cornwall and was inspired by the landscape as much as it was missing the things you get when you live in a city. I had spent months listening to music made for the club when walking alone out on the cliffs, which is a pretty awe-inspiring experience and I think that is what gave birth to this album. It is like a snapshot in time, one that feels hopeful for the future and working through the grief.”
