Jords - Drill Vs Grime (Official Video)

South-East London rapper Jords returns with his brand-new single ‘Drill Vs Grime’, taken from his forthcoming album to be released later this spring.

‘Drill Vs Grime’ came about when Jords and Lil Sykes joined forces in January 2022 and discussed the genre complexities of both grime and drill, and the evolution of music between their different age groups. It was only after they both wrote their 16 bar verses that same night that Jords assisted on the production of ‘Drill vs Grime’ alongside ZDot. “I showed them both how to really craft the sounds of grime - it had to be a true collaboration of both sounds.”

From the top hats that make UK drill so globally renowned, to the ominous and bold character that’s come to define grime, Jords effortlessly builds a bridge of synergy between both styles.  He elaborates, “Drill vs Grime is a statement song. It’s a statement of intent, hunger, and passion. I went to school with Sykes so it’s also a full circle moment, showing everyone what we can do and how much we want this. I’m not here to be the nice guy, that fits in. I’m here to create greatness.”

This statement of ‘greatness’ is portrayed visually on ‘Drill vs Grime’, which is shot by upcoming black director Sau Ali and the creative behind it is a collaborative work with Jords. It is filmed in a raw, powerful, and upbeat style within a conversational undertone, creating a unique and immersive viewing experience.

2023 is shaping up to be a milestone year for Jords, with a wealth of music on the way including a full-length project set for release later this year, which will mark the first UK rap album to be released on Motown Records.
