PREMIERE: Paleblu - Lately, The Feels Ain’t Been There (EP)

East London resident Paleblu has a new 4-track EP titled ‘Lately, The Feels Ain’t Been There’ which shows off a versatility that is fresh to the palate and pleasing to the ear. Continuing to explore his own ever-developing sound, he’s picked up recent support on BBC Radio 1 and already boasts releases on the legendary DJ Zinc’s Bingo Beats label with ‘Drop My Tune’, Soulvent with ‘Want Me’ alongside Kray and Cardiff-based Pull Up Recordings with the ‘Same Mistakes’ EP released all in 2022. This new aural offering provides insight into his continuing creative direction and tongue-in-cheek view of his city.

Boasting big bouncy subs and detuned pads, ‘Close Again‘ is produced by fellow London-based producer Chords and kicks off the EP’s proceedings with a muted melancholic flavour, while Paleblu’s palpably pained vocals dance atop the beats. Progression is found in welcome spacey breaks and percussion, resulting in a memorable listening experience Seeing its earlier release as a single, ‘Sentimental’ quaintly harbours Paleblu’s newly found trademark indie-meets-dnb flavour. The intricately rhythmic guitar provides the foundations while drum & bass breaks and distorted bass guitar bring the beat.

Sing-along vibes lie in wait with ‘Easy4Me’, its hypnotic chorus effortlessly conjuring images of sunshine in the city and Summer romance.

The penultimate track ‘Navigate’ bears more jungle flavour, with Paleblu’s almost spoken verse meeting with a resonant arpeggio and ravey stabs.

‘Lately, The Feels Ain’t Been There EP’ marks Paleblu’s 11th solo release and showcases his newest lyrical & sonic soundscapes, landing in all good online retailers on Friday the 12th of May 2023.
