Ama Lou - Silence (Official Video)

Acclaimed British singer/songwriter Ama Lou releases her stunning new single “Silence” via Interscope/Polydor Records.

Moody and off-kilter, the enchanting anthem offers another glimpse of her highly anticipated, forthcoming debut album. To mark the occasion, the singer-songwriter also dropped the track’s music video directed by her and her sister Mahalia.

“Silence, don’t bring me down,” Ama Lou belts over ominous, atmospheric tones and rapid-fire percussion. “Do you start hearing sounds? Maybe it's just one of those things that you don't get.” Ama Lou tends to incorporate her own unique brand of mystery into songs — and that's especially true of the upbeat and empowering, yet still introspective "Silence."

In the accompanying music video, the rising star delivers one of her most ambitious productions to date. Ama takes her visual creativity to the next level by incorporating intricate choreography joined by an ensemble of back-up dancers.

“Silence” is the singer’s follow up to May’s “CAUGHT ME RUNNING.” Those tracks follow 2021's lauded AT LEAST WE HAVE THIS EP, which explored London’s diversity and eclectic music scenes, and how they influenced her. Each song draws from a different genre, showing off the tapestry of styles and moods that she holds close to her heart.

Since her 2016 breakout single “TBC,” Ama Lou has received praise from tastemakers like Vogue, The FADER, i-D, Elle, The Guardian, and more. With her sister Mahalia, the Brit launched Marzlama Films, a production company that has produced and directed all her videos to date. In addition to music, she is a staple in the fashion scene, gracing the runway for Off-White’s Womenswear Fall/Winter 2022-2023 Paris Fashion Week show and has become a household name for many luxury fashion brands including AIMÉ LEON DORE, ASICS, BULGARI, BOTTEGA VENETA, LOEWE & VALENTINO.

With “Silence,” Ama Lou showcases the full breadth of her intoxicating talent, while still hinting at new horizons to explore on future releases.
