Nevmore - Whimsical Charm Side B (EP)
After releasing Side A of Whimsical Charm in July, Nevmore returns with the second half of Whimsical Charm as it is a showcase of the grittier, old school side of Nevmore.
The EP is some classic boom bap which Nevmore has loved for years infused with that chill vibe you can have with a drink and sunshine.
Speaking on “Whimsical Charm Side B” and why he chose this subject, Nevmore said and quote: “I wanted to take a bit of a different approach than usual, I love rapping which always puts a smile on my face and being able to charm everyone with my words and when it comes to making more of a chilled out vibe, I wanted something that was proper Nevmore, proper old school and paying homage to those who paved the way for everyone and wanting to leave my own mark. I also wanted to stick to rapping over my favourite type of beats which are boom bap beats and to have Denny LAflare on here is crazy”.
The 4 tracks on Side B are “English Channel”, “Mirrors”, “Three Stripes” and “Big Money Spender”.
The 4 tracks are produced by 3 different producers including Mulade who has produced for artists such as Lord Apex and OK Ewan, Thugs Bunny who has produced a majority of the Nevmore catalogue and Denny LAflare who has produced numerous tracks for Griselda artists Westside Gunn, Rome Streetz, Armani Caesar.
“I wanted to jazz out my production a lot with this EP, especially having a little fuse of everything that I enjoy musically with hip hop, especially with Denny who has produced some of my favourite Westside Gunn tracks. With the genres chosen, I also wanted to go for a chill Loyle Carner type song which is why I chose mulade as well”.
The EP includes a feature from Blah Records’ Black Josh who has previously collaborated with Nevmore on “Cantona” from 2023’s Make Your Mind Up Son mixtape.
In addition to the EP, Mirrors from the EP has a music video directed and creatively directed with by Azim “Renecide” Miah. Renecide has previously directed a music video for Nevmore which was for the track “Lena The Plug” from Nevmore’s 2023 mixtape Make Your Mind Up Son” as well as “Swim Swim” and Fassion Weak from Side A which was released in July. Renecide has also directed music videos for other Northampton artists such as Billy Lockett, Weirdoe, REMIEWORLD.
“I really enjoyed what Renecide and Dotmedia done for the music video for Lena, Fassion Weak and Swim Swim so it was a no brainer to have them direct two music videos as to have something showcase mine and Azim’s creative side and with a track like Mirrors, we could really have fun with different methods and techniques of showcasing both of our talents”.
With the EP set to release November 8th, Nevmore has returned to showcase what he is capable of and what a welcome conclusion for his 2024 run.
