Extrazen - BACK TO LIFE (Official Video)
Underground alt-pop riser Extrazen unveils his vulnerable new track, “BACK TO LIFE,” as the latest slice of his forthcoming new body of work.
Offering an intimate soundscape which offsets the braggadocious “STUNT” and expansive synth work of “HOLLYWOOD” with poignant production choices, “BACK TO LIFE” dives into the confusion of navigating a one-sided relationship, where love and affection aren’t always returned.
Written and produced by Extrazen to capture the emotional chaos of unreciprocated love, “BACK TO LIFE” builds from minimal beginnings into a crescendo of frenzied drum rhythms and swirling synths – perfectly mirroring the emotional rollercoaster of a love gone awry with his fragile vocals.
Meanwhile, the music video’s eerie, industrial landscapes set the perfect scene for the track’s themes, as we watch Extrazen attempt to find the light within the darkness – a gripping metaphorical representation of frustration, confusion, and ultimately, isolation.
Talking about “BACK TO LIFE,” Extrazen shared the following: “‘BACK TO LIFE’ is a very special and personal track to me. It’s been on my computer for about two years, but it just felt right to put it out now. The song talks about unreciprocated love and fighting for someone who has lost all interest while being so in love that you’re easily tricked. It’s a beautiful chaos where love, anger, and disappointment coexist. I produced and wrote the song in its entirety, and I wanted it to feel like a rollercoaster from beginning to end—like a song you would just play and dance to at max volume when feeling lost and in love; an escape.”
Fresh off standout performances at both London’s NiNE8FEST and Portugal’s iconic NOS Alive Festival - where he shared the stage with global megastars Dua Lipa and Tyla - Extrazen is rapidly solidifying his place as a noteworthy new force in the alt-pop scene. Whether commanding the attention of underground tastemakers alongside NiNE8 Collective (Lava La Rue, Biig Piig, Mac Wetha, Nige, Bone Slim, Lorenzo RSV) and Yunè Pinku, or standing alongside internationally renowned heavyweights, Extrazen’s magnetic stage presence and boundary-pushing sound captivates both niche crowds and massive festival audiences, marking him as an artist destined for alt-pop stardom.
Extrazen’s love affair with music began in Santo Tirso, a small city near Porto, Portugal, where he taught himself guitar as a child. His early passion for diving deep into all aspects of creating music laid the groundwork for his adventurous soundscapes, blending his Portuguese roots with experimental alt-pop.
Refining his techniques throughout the years with different styles and textures on a myriad of indie cuts, Extrazen joined One House Only in 2019, who released his acclaimed debut single and music video "With You". Following a quiet 2020, Extrazen made his return with "Pinewood St." – an intimate and nostalgic ballad – and "Cleopatra" in 2021, earning him his first million streams on Spotify.
