Leicester-born, London-based Shivani Day releases her debut single, 'Rhetoric' via FAMM.

Laying fresh roots into untouched soil, 'Rhetoric' was co-produced by Shivani and close collaborator Minas who weave traditional South Asian musical forms into textured elements of Electronica and R&B. Having discovered her moral compass at an early age, the creative process encouraged Shivani to re-visit early memories to inspire themes of identity, equality and integrity. The Erea Ferreiro (Ojerime, Odeal) directed video resembles 'Rhetoric' according to Shivani's vision - and her initial mood board - with subtle nods to her heritage, from styling details to a mesmerising snake which is an integral symbol in Indian mythology. Dedicated to conquering her self-inflicted limitations, Shivani intends to let her carefully curated soundscape speak for her inner thoughts.

Shivani exuded independence and introspection from a young age, which guided her through her early years. Immersed in a diverse array of musical genres thanks to her Father's eclectic taste, Shivani's palette was broad and unconventional for her age and cultural background, with exposure to genres such as Chicago House, Latin, Jazz, Euro Electronic, Reggae and Gregorian chant. After excelling in Kathak and Bollywood dance in her pre-teens, Shivani developed a deep appreciation for artistry and creativity, setting the stage for exploring the world of music and art. During her years studying International Relations at University, Shivani taught herself to DJ, which led to countless sets across the UK, including a Boiler Room in her then-native, Nottingham, ahead of taking a decisive step toward her live musical aspirations. Having spent time imagining what type of music she would create, Shivani began songwriting before enlisting the guidance of singer Shaé Universe as her vocal coach. Empowered by her newfound mentorship and confidence, Shivani delved further into songwriting, crafting compositions that seamlessly blend elements of Electronica, Trip-hop and Alternative-R&B. Ethereal, flowing, and contrasting, Shivani's music invites listeners on a transcendent journey through her rich tapestry of influences citing Sade, Aaliyah, Massive Attack, Nelly Furtado, Lana Del Rey, and Grace Jones as some of her key influences. As Shivani continues to carve her path in music, her boundless creativity and passion serve as a beacon of inspiration for the music she produces and writes.

'Rhetoric' is the birth of Shivani's newest evolution as an artist, illustrating her gift to flourish as a musician. In the process of supersizing her sound, Shivani's goal is to make tasteful music that helps provoke thoughts and emotions for like-minded individuals.
