Deja Renee - Fantasy (Single)

San Diego-based pop and R&B singer/songwriter Deja Renee has announced her latest single ‘Fantasy’. The track is ethereal, hard-hitting and sonically boundless, the production introducing an abundance of bright, sunny instrumental tones alongside dark 808 punches and trap-influenced percussive toplines.

Though Deja’s headline influences, Ariana Grande, Tori Kelly and Zedd, are still present, with smooth vocal tones rooting the overall vibe of ‘Fantasy’, there’s a newfound sense of pioneering intention as the melodies become floating and hazy. Overall, this genre-bending experience is some of Deja’s most interesting work yet.

The artist dives into the track, sharing, ”I wrote this song to take a completely different direction with my music, in hopes of reaching a new audience and fan base. I'm wanting this to be the song to finally take me to the next level.”

Surrounded by music from a young age, Deja absorbed her grandma’s love for oldies, and her mom’s love for R&B. She got her start in music by playing the clarinet and trumpet in middle school and high school band, as well as being in the choir. After this, Deja pursued an Associate of Arts in Music Performance for Classical Voice at MiraCosta College, using her voice for both classical music and jazz in her college career.

After debuting in the autumn of 2021 with ‘Look At Me Now’, Deja has since made #36 on the UK iTunes Charts with her 2023 single ‘Jealous’, and released her most recent 5-track EP titled Starting Over.
