Verse Vicer x Hatori - Pull Me Under (Official Video)

South London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Verse Vicer releases his latest single, "Pull Me Under," with Denver-based singer-songwriter Hatori. A chameleonic artist, Verse Vicer has built a reputation for crafting a diverse soundscape that reflects the continuous changes in his life. His moniker, 'Verse Vicer,' encapsulates this fluidity and constant adaptation, embracing a broad spectrum of influences including funk, neo-soul, hip hop, jazz, and psych rock.

"Pull Me Under" emerges from a unique transatlantic collaboration between Verse Vicer and Hatori. The two artists, who first crossed paths during their school days in Oxford, reconnected recently over a shared love of music. Despite the physical distance—Hatori in Colorado and Verse Vicer in London—they have successfully created this emotive track entirely over the internet. Verse Vicer's mastery of piano, drums, guitar, and synths combines seamlessly with Hatori's evocative vocals, resulting in a song that resonates with the push and pull of life's challenges.

In Verse Vicer's words, “‘Pull Me Under’ captures the feeling of the world grabbing hold of you, pulling you under while you fight to stay afloat in a chaotic storm. It's a song about resilience, pushing against the weight, and finding strength in the struggle.” The track is layered with mysterious, dark, melancholic, and moody elements, drawing inspiration from artists like Hiatus Kaiyote, Moonchild, Tom Misch, LCD Soundsystem, and Erykah Badu.

Hatori, known for her versatile artistry and self-produced singles "Beige" and "Playing God," brought her dynamic musical prowess to this project. Starting with a vocal demo and a different beat she created, Verse Vicer took the reins, crafting the final backing with his multi-instrumental skills. The result is a genre-blending piece that embodies both artists' eclectic influences.

A self-made music video will accompany the release of "Pull Me Under," showcasing Hitori and Verse Vicer's flair for visual storytelling. Fans can also catch him live at an upcoming show on November 16th at The Beehive in East London, where he will perform with a full band.
